That'll be it.
Last night, whilst standing on a train platform, I realised once and for all that no matter how much money is pumped into British Rail Networks, regardless of the attempts by sundry rail companies to better the service, that branch of public transport will never in a million years be as efficient, punctual and reasonably priced as its' Japanese counterpart because of a profound difference in attitude. That which led me to this conclusion was the sight of two train drivers, one relieving the other from his shift. They saluted each other.
Labels: culture (shock), I wasn't expecting that, Japan

There ain't no such thing as British Rail anymore, evil Maggie Thatcher privatised it all so it's run by competing companies who care little for efficiency or safety as long as they can siphon enormous profits from its cramped and often late customers. Oh the difference between being a customer and a passenger...
no, no, the British Rail Network, as in the network of Railways in Britain. I was unsure about my use of capitals anyway...
Some politician tool was recently saying that overcrowding on trains was good because it statistically reduced your chances of being injured in an accident. Or something like that. To be honest I didn't read the article properly because as soon as I read the word 'politician' my brain fully engaged cynicism mode and I stopped being interested. It amazes what these cocks will say to cover themselves. He most likely had some sort of financial interest, as they always do. Back to work on my teleporter...
